Mien Shiang * Face Reading & Facial Diagnosis Courses

These three-level courses are available to anyone with an interest in Taoist Face Reading and Facial Diagnosis.
We also offer two Mien Shiang Practitioner Courses:
  • Face Reading Practitioner Course : completion of Levels One and Two
  • Facial Diagnosis Practitioner Course: completion of Levels One, Two and Three
To be eligible for either of these Practitioner Courses, you must enroll through the Mien Shiang Institute, and you must complete each class of each Level required. You will receive prescribed feedback from Patrician McCarthy, founder of The MSI. Patrician will personally evaluate your completed quizzes during the course of each Level, and will evaluate your final exam at the end of each Level which will determine if you are ready to advance to the next Level.

If you are not enrolled in the Practitioner Courses, you may take any or all of the courses available, in any order you wish, beginning Autumn 2012. However, you will not have feedback from us, nor will you be able to take our quizzes and exams.

Level One - READING THE FACE : Personality Traits, Characteristics, and Behaviors

Level One, eight classes, lays the foundations for the study of both Face Reading and Facial Diagnosis. This is a comprehensive introductory study of Mien Shiang and the Five Element personality characteristics and traits that are revealed on the face. It is a thorough course designed for one’s personal use, and for practitioners and teachers of both Mien Shiang and the Taoist Five Elements.

Level Two: THE FIVE ELEMENT PATTERNS :  Determining the Physical, Physiological, Emotional Issues, and Behavioral Patterns for Each Element & THE DIAGNOSTIC ASSOCIATIONS FOR FACIAL FEATURES

Level Two, twelve classes,  (a) explores the physical, physiological, emotional issues, and behavioral patterns of each of the Five Element personalities, and (b) teaches how to recognize certain dispositions and predispositions for imbalance for each Element by analyzing the face; and, (c) an in depth study of the diagnostic associations related to each of the twelve facial features.

Bonus class within Level Two: the Taoist emotional and psychological effects of plastic surgery, facial tattooing and facial piercing.

Level Three, twelve classes, is an in-depth study of Facial Diagnosis to recognize and diagnose signs of emotional, psychological & physical imbalances associated with each of the Five Elements.
